New Post: Psychodynamic Child Therapist/Psychotherapist
Bridge in Schools Programme
An exciting new post has arisen in the Bridge in Schools team at the Bridge Foundation, with a start date of September 2018. This is an opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced therapist to join a lively and experienced team and to develop and deliver services in a Bristol primary school. It is an excellent opportunity to bring mental health expertise to the heart of a school community.
The Bridge Foundation is a Bristol based charity, which has been delivering a range of clinical and training services relating to the needs of children, young people, families and adults for over 30 years.
Applicants need to demonstrate experience of bringing psychodynamic thinking to working with children and families. They will be qualified as a UKCP/ BCP/BACP/HCP accredited psychodynamic child counsellor, or a qualified child psychotherapist accredited with the ACP. Child psychotherapists experienced in schools work and close to completing their training may be considered. A professional education, mental health or social work background, a good understanding of child development, and an experience of personal analysis would be highly relevant.
The work includes:
· Work with the school to develop effective emotional/learning support strategies in school
· Supervision of specialist SEN and support staff
· Classroom observations and assessment
· 1:1 school-based psychodynamic counselling/therapy for children and young people
· Occasional group work with children and young people
· Family work; work with parents; liaising closely with school staff
The therapist will be joining a small supervision group at The Bridge Foundation.
The post will be for 10 hours a week, that includes 3 hours a week to cover administration and attend supervision/meetings on a Wednesday afternoon at the Bridge Foundation. The post is for 46 weeks a year which include 7 weeks paid holiday (outside school term times). There may be some flexibility to negotiate hours.
Salary: pro rata equivalent to £30,904 p/a FTE.

Honorary Child Counsellors – Bridge in Schools Service
The Bridge Foundation occasionally has vacancies for honorary child counsellors.
These posts are based at diverse and vibrant inner city Primary Schools, with children from a wide range of minority ethnic backgrounds and cultures.
We look for candidates with skills and experience in building therapeutic relationships with children from a breadth of social and cultural backgrounds. A professional background in education, health, mental health, or social work is highly relevant. Successful applicants need to demonstrate some experience of bringing psychodynamic thinking to working with children.
Posts are usually for 1 – 1.5 days per week, comprised of 2-3 sessions in school and half a day attending a supervision group and staff meetings on Wednesday afternoons based at the Bridge Foundation.
Volunteer therapists/counsellors carry a caseload of up to 3 clinical sessions a week and will be required make a commitment to weekly work during term time for a minimum of one year.
Child protection and other relevant training is provided in line with service requirements.
Volunteers are eligible for reimbursement of some expenses incurred while delivering work for the Bridge Foundation.
