Self-Employed Child and Adolescent
The Bridge Foundation, a Bristol based charity providing a range of clinical and training services relating to the needs of children, young people, families and adults, wishes to recruit a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist.
The Bridge Foundation provides a range of psychoanalytic psychotherapy and counselling services to individuals, children, young people and families. Alongside our fee paying services, we are committed to delivering accessible free counselling services for children and parents in outreach settings such as schools.
This post is suitable for a Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist with experience of work with children and adolescents. Newly qualified child psychotherapists and those with post qualifying experience are welcome to apply.
This post offers an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified person to join a lively and experienced team working in our fee-paying and commissioned services team.
There will be opportunities for individual work with children, parents and families. There might also be opportunities to provide supervision.
We are looking for qualified psychotherapists who are registered with BPC, BACP, UKCP, or the Association of Child
The successful applicant would need to be able to demonstrate experience of bringing psychodynamic thinking to working with individual children, parents and families.
This will be a self-employed sessional post, with the therapist providing a minimum of 5 X 50 minute sessions per week. The therapist will need to work on a Monday, Tuesday or Friday. It will be possible to spread the work out over these days. Availability for some evening sessions will be required.
You would attend a fortnightly team meeting and supervision group on a Wednesday from 12.00 to 2.00.

From time to time we are able to offer placements for counsellors who have, or are in the process of, completing a recognised training. We generally require volunteer counsellors to be experienced and interested in psychodynamic counselling as well as available to spend a year with The Bridge Foundation. This is an exciting opportunity for suitably qualified and experienced persons to join a lively and skilled team, and gain experience of working in a school setting. These posts are based at diverse and vibrant inner city Primary Schools, with children from a wide range of minority ethnic backgrounds and cultures.
We are seeking candidates with skills and experience in building therapeutic relationships with children from a breadth of social and cultural backgrounds. A professional background in education, health, mental health, or social work would be highly relevant. The successful applicant would need to demonstrate some experience of bringing psychodynamic thinking to working with children.
Equally this post would suit counsellors and therapists with an interest in developing their practice in a multi-cultural community setting. Applicants in the final year of their training will be considered depending on experience.
The posts will be for 1 – 1.5 days per week, comprised of 2-3 sessions in school (specific day to be agreed) and half a day attending a supervision group and staff meetings on Wednesday afternoons based at the Bridge Foundation.
Volunteer therapists/counsellors carry a caseload of up to 3 clinical sessions a week and will be required make a commitment to weekly work during term time for a minimum of one year.
Child protection and other relevant training is provided in line with service requirements.
Volunteers are eligible for reimbursement of some expenses incurred while delivering work for the Bridge Foundation.
